Harriet Edelstein, LCSW, has thirty years experience with the Boulder Valley School District, and earned membership in the Academy of Certified Social Workers. She is trained in many modalities of child, family, and elder therapy. Harriet won the prestigious Impact on
Education Award for her innovative creation and implementation of a school wide social
skills/conflict resolution program (adopted as a model for other schools in the area).
Through the SIED Intensive Program, Harriet has worked with the most seriously emotionally/
behaviorally disturbed elementary age children.
Harriet is a master at positive behavior management solutions, parental guidance and education and problem solving. She also incorporates art therapy, play therapy and positive psychology techniques in her work with children, families and seniors. Harriet works collaboratively with school and medical personnel and does school and caregiver consultations as part of her comprehensive approach to impacting the lives of the children and elders under her care. She accepts Medicaid, Medicare, Victims Compensation from the District Attorney's office and many insurance plans.
Harriet has served her community in many ways: As Board of Directors member for The
Parenting Place, 20 years on the Boulder County Child Protection Review Board, a founding
member of Friendship Cities Project (relief work in Nicaragua), board member for Mile
High Red Cross Mental Health Disaster Team (responded to catastrophes such as forest fires
and hurricanes), and worked with orphans in Sri Lanka following the tsunami of 2004. In
addition Harrriet served as co-chair of the Boulder County Aging Advisory Council, and via
governor’s appointments, served on the Colorado Commission on Aging. Harriet is a resource
for seniors and has a special interest in meeting their emotional needs.
Harriet’s breadth of education includes: BA, Sarah Lawrence College, MA in history, University
of California, MSW in social work from the University of Denver. |
